About Aurora GreenFest

What is Aurora GreenFest?

Beginning in 2010, Aurora GreenFest is a family-friendly educational event, for all ages, celebrating sustainability and giving people in our city and the Fox Valley region a chance to learn how to reduce their environmental footprint. With up to 100 vendors, the festival brings together a wide range of environmental interests. You can check out booths from solar installers, environmental non-profits, and vendors selling organic and sustainable arts and crafts. A popular highlight of GreenFest is the green vehicle car show. It’s a great opportunity for local green vehicle owners to show off their cars and share how electric vehicles help reduce emissions.

The festival provides residents with practical information on how to live more sustainably and save money on household expenses. Attendees can learn about a variety of topics, from climate change mitigation to home composting and the importance of pollinators like bees. The event attracts a diverse audience, from young families to seniors looking for ways to reduce utility costs.

Beyond its focus on sustainability, GreenFest is a vibrant community event featuring local food trucks, live music, and other performances. Attendees can enjoy activities like aerialist shows and yoga, or simply relax in a hammock by the Fox River, making it a well-rounded and enjoyable experience for all.

2026 Theme: Energy Efficiency

Energy efficiency is the practice of using less energy to provide the same amount of useful output from a service. Buildings are significant contributors to climate change because of the energy consumption for heating, cooling, lighting, and powering our appliances. Energy efficiency in households can improve the comfort and safety of a home, reduce household energy burden, and help build regional resilience.
